SunPlay's TOP Five Australian Holiday Destinations

For Aussies looking to explore their own backyard or Internationals finally coming back to our sun kissed country, here is my Top 5 list of amazing Australian beaches! When the weather heats up, the sun is hot so hats, sunscreen and beach tents are a must.

Australia’s known to have some of the best beaches in the world. With more than 10,000 along our coastline, you’re spoilt for choice. No matter where you go, you’ll find exceptional surfing and swimming. Some of our beaches are home to the whitest sand in the world, others offer world-class surf breaks, and are a playground for marine life - keep your eyes peeled for whales.

One. Gold Coast

Steeped in childhood nostalgia, the Gold Coast is a much-loved family holiday destination. Whether you come for the region's adventure theme parks, it famous beaches, or to escape into the lush hinterland - you'll feel an energy that'll have you coming back for more. There is something for every taste.

Two. Great Barrier Reef

The significance of the Great Barrier Reef can’t be underestimated; the world’s largest coral reef system is home to thousands of marine life and coral species as well as some of the world’s best islands and beaches. There is not a lot of shade, so a beach tent, sun shelter or beach canopy is recommended.

Three. Byron Bay

An iconic and chilled beach resort in Northern NSW, Byron is known globally as a mecca for the ‘good life’ with people flocking to its beautiful beaches, top-notch cafes and cool outdoor lifestyle for decades. We spent hours in our beach tent here. The people watching is second to none. Hippies, yuppies, and beach bums are a plenty.

Four. Mission Beach

Mission Beach couldn’t ask for a better position. In its front yard, the World-Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef, and in its backyard, World Heritage-listed tropical rainforest. This special place is packed full of experiences.

Five. The Whitsundays

Lying in the heart of one of our greatest national treasures, the Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsunday Islands are its crowning glory. These 74 tropical islands prove that the region’s beauty is just as rich above water as below it.

I have more favourite spots. Feel free to ask!
